Play freeSmith Guide
The Smith in town (Town → Smith) makes your weapons, armor, helmets and boots stronger. It does two things:
- Upgrade — raise an item from +0 up to +10. Every level adds a share of the item's base stats (normally +10% per level, so +100% at +10).
- Reforge — use a reforge stone to reroll an item's rarity or its affixes.
Equipped items can be upgraded and reforged too — you don't have to take them off.
Upgrading
- Open the Upgrade tab and pick an item on the left.
- The Smith shows the success chance, the gold and the materials for the next level, and a preview of your stats after the upgrade.
- Press Upgrade.
If the upgrade fails, the gold and materials are used up and the item is destroyed — unless a Protection Scroll protects it. The upgrade to +1 always succeeds, so this can happen on every upgrade from +2 upward. Protection Scrolls are sold in the General Store for 25,000 gold; with one, a failed upgrade only costs the gold and materials and the item keeps its level. One scroll is used up per protected upgrade (success or fail). Without a scroll the Smith asks you to confirm before a risky upgrade. Higher levels have lower chances, so bring spare materials for +8 and up. The last three levels are the hardest: +8 succeeds 10% of the time, +9 5% and +10 only 1%. The Smith always shows the exact chance before you press Upgrade.
Upgrade materials
The Smith no longer uses Iron — every upgrade needs materials that only drop in Raids. The higher the level, the rarer the material:
| Material | Rarity | Needed for | Drops in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | every level (+1 to +10) | every Raid | |
| Rare | +4 to +10 | Adept, Veteran and Mythic Raids | |
| Epic | +7 to +10 | Veteran and Mythic Raids | |
| Legendary | +9 and +10 | Mythic Raids (very rarely Veteran) |
Each level needs a little more than the one before. For a weapon or armor:
| Level | Raidsteel | Soulforge | Wyrmheart | Void Star |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| +1 | 2 | – | – | – |
| +3 | 4 | – | – | – |
| +4 | 5 | 1 | – | – |
| +6 | 7 | 3 | – | – |
| +7 | 8 | 4 | 1 | – |
| +9 | 10 | 6 | 3 | 1 |
| +10 | 11 | 7 | 4 | 2 |
Helmets and boots need one Raidsteel Ingot less per level. The Smith always shows the exact amounts for your item.
Raid drops per clear (whole team)
| Raid tier | Raidsteel | Soulforge | Wyrmheart | Void Star |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Novice | 3–6 | – | – | – |
| Adept | 4–8 | 70%: 1–3 | – | – |
| Veteran | 6–10 | 90%: 2–4 | 50%: 1–2 | 3%: 1 |
| Mythic | 8–14 | 3–5 | 80%: 1–3 | 20%: 1 |
The Raid chest is shared: materials are split fairly between the raiders. Open a Raid's Drops list to see its exact loot.
Reforging
Reforge stones are used at the Smith (Reforge tab), not from your bag. Pick a stone, pick an item, press Reforge. Each reforge uses one stone and a small gold fee.
| Stone | What it does | What stays | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| rerolls the rarity | affixes, upgrade level | Store (40 Gems), Adept+ Raids (rare) | |
| rerolls all affixes | rarity, upgrade level | Store (120 Gems), Veteran+ Raids (very rare) |
Buy stones in the Smith tab of the Store, or right on the Smith's Reforge tab.
Prism Shard — rarity
The new rarity is rolled like a normal drop. It can go down!
| Rarity | Chance | Base stats |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary | 1% | +25% |
| Epic | 5% | +17% |
| Rare | 12% | +11% |
| Uncommon | 22% | +5% |
| Common | 60% | +0% |
The item's stats are rebuilt for the new rarity (including a new roll for elemental affinities), then its upgrade level is applied again. A Prism Shard never changes affixes — a Common item made Legendary keeps its one affix.
Chaos Rune — affixes
The item gets a completely new set of affixes: as many as its rarity allows (Common 1, Uncommon 2, Rare 3, Epic 4, Legendary 5). Which affixes you get is random.
High values are rare. A reforged affix leans towards the low end of its range: on a 1–6% affix the top value comes up only about 1 in 12 times, and a perfect item is close to impossible. The Smith shows how good each affix rolled with a quality bar. Your old affixes are gone once you reforge — there is no undo.
Tips
- Upgrade the gear you will keep. Reforging doesn't touch the upgrade level, so you can upgrade first and reforge later.
- Try a Prism Shard on an item with good affixes, and a Chaos Rune on an item that already has the rarity you want.
- Lock your best items in the bag so you can't sell them by mistake. Locked items can still be upgraded and reforged.
