Lethal Travel is an opt-in, high-risk way to travel. Every step and every monster you defeat pays a little more, but other Lethal travelers in your zone can ambush you — and whoever loses the fight loses everything they carry.

Turning It On
- Press Enable on the Lethal Travel card on the Travel page.
- You're locked in for 5 minutes. The card shows how long is left.
- Need out sooner? Exit now takes 70% of the Gold you carry (press twice to confirm). Gold reserved by your Marketplace bids can't be used for this fee.
- Losing a Lethal fight turns Lethal Mode off for you.
Lethal Mode is active: locked for 5 minutes, or pay to leave now
How Ambushes Work
- After you turn Lethal Mode on — and after every Lethal fight — you're safe for a random 4–10 minutes.
- Once that time is up, your next step meets another Lethal traveler if one is around: someone who is also Lethal, also off their own cooldown, in the same zone, and who took a step in the last 5 minutes.
- Matchmaking looks for players within 10 levels of you. Sometimes (and whenever nobody is that close) it looks within 20 levels. Nobody further away can ever be matched.
- If nobody qualifies, your step is a normal step.
The Fight
- It plays out instantly, like an Arena duel, and you watch the replay. Both fighters start at full HP and use their stats, gear, affixes and luck.
- A coin flip decides who strikes first — it doesn't matter who took the step.
- The winner is healed to full, stays in Lethal Mode and gets a new 4–10 minute cooldown.
- The loser drops to 10% HP and Lethal Mode is turned off.
- If you were ambushed while away, the fight replays the next time you're online, and you get a notification.
Victory: you keep your gear and take everything your opponent carried
Defeat: your on-hand Gold and bag go to the winner
What You Can Lose
- All the Gold you carry.
- Everything in your bag.
- The winner gets both. Items that don't fit in the winner's bag are lost.
What Is Always Safe
- Equipped gear — weapon, armor, helmet and boots.
- Gems.
- Gold in your Town Bank. Gold from Marketplace sales is paid straight into your bank, so it's safe too.
- Items in your Town Chest and Home Chest.
- Pets you've hatched. (Unhatched eggs in your bag are items like any other.)
Rules While Lethal
- No town. You can't enter town (so no Bank, Town Chest or shops), and you can't enter any Player Town or reach your Home Chest.
- No selling. You can't sell to shops or list items on the Marketplace.
- No trading away loot. Trades that would hand over items or Gold are refused. Buying on the Marketplace still works.
Town is closed while Lethal Mode is on
Killboard
Every Lethal kill shows up on the Killboard with a LETHAL TRAVEL tag, next to the Arena fights.

Tips
- Bank your Gold first. Banked Gold can never be looted — and it can't be taken by the early-exit fee either.
- Keep your bag light. Stash valuables in your Town Chest or Home Chest before you go Lethal.
- Gear up. Your equipped gear can't be taken, and it decides the fight.
- Sold something while out there? The Gold went to your bank, not your bag.
